Pierre Garrabos

I recently graduated from my master’s in mechanical engineering with a minor in Material Science at EPFL and I am looking for a position to start my career. I will therefore be available upon finalisation of my studies in April 2025. Diligent, serious, sociable, and attentive, I can integrate a team and work effectively in a positive environment. This position would be an opportunity for me to develop skills and abilities while enriching my professional experience. During my bachelor's studies at McGill University, I was able to refine both my theoretical and practical knowledge in one of the most competitive academic environments in the world. McGill has a large workshop where I spent considerable time preparing the robots I worked on for various design competitions in which I participated. This experience also allowed me to identify my areas of interest, as mechanical engineering is a vast field. Upon arriving at EPFL in 2022, I was able to specialize in structural and solid mechanics. Having developed a particular interest in composite materials since my bachelor's specialization, I had the opportunity to work on various projects with the LPAC (Laboratory for Processing of Advanced Composites) for 2 years now, and the CCLAB (Composite Construction Laboratory). Later on, I was able to work for a very competitive Swiss start-up called CompPair which aims at improving sustainable design for composites by formulating innovative solutions. Moreover, I am also experienced in design and manufacture of composites as I can use SolidWorks, CATIA, Ansys and Abaqus.
Skills:
Composite Design : Developed on various project such as boat hull design, bridges or skateboards with SolidWorks, CATIA, ANSYS and Abaqus
Composite Manufacturing : Familiar with numerous manufacturing methods ; Wet layup, autoclave, RTM, SMC, Pultrusion, Infusion and additive manufacturing with recycled composites
Teamwork : Perfected in two labs (LPAC and CCLAB), one start-up (CompPair), two EPFL clubs (Swiss Solar Boat and 180°C) and many course projects
